Up for sale, a 1992 Gibson Explorer '76 vintage reissue in excellent condition for its age and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. The early reissues are the best and quickly rising in value for both Fenders and Gibsons. This guitar is loaded with the original 496R and 500T humbuckers. The guitar has plenty of power on tap, and the stock ceramic magnet humbuckers are focused and cutting, with a sound that pushes your amp hard with a tone that compresses nicely and stays tight and manageable especially in high gain scenarios. The radically shaped mahogany body adds inherent warmth and fullness to the sound too, working in concert with the thick slab rosewood fretboard. The guitar weighs 8lbs 12oz, with a sweet, natural sustain and rich acoustic resonance that translates well through the humbuckers.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender C shaped profile with imperceptible taper up the fretboard and a long tenon neck joint for optimal sustain. The profile measures .810” deep at the 1st fret and .890” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlay and has received a refret in its lifetime. The new frets match the originals in terms of width and crown and are virtually flawless. On the headstock, the original Gibson-branded tuning machines turn smoothly, and the "Gibson" logo is inlaid on the face. The headstock finish has serious checking that’s common with this model and year. The logo is intact and this can be restored perfectly by any decent luthier. I left it as is because I think it looks cool. We can arrange to have it restored for an extra fee if so desired.

All of the electronics work as they should, with individual Volume controls for each pickup and a Master Tone control. Cosmetically, the finish has very tight and fine checking throughout. This guitar is structurally sound with zero repairs.

The original brown tolex Gibson USA hardshell case with pink plush interior and blanket is included. The case is extremely clean, with stock latches and leather handle.
